National High School Top 50: April 23

The top three teams on the High School Top 50 remain the same as IMG Academy (Fla.), Orange Lutheran (Calif.) and Argyle (Texas) hold pat at Nos. 1 through 3, respectively. IMG had a dominant win over then-ranked No. 18 Tampa Jesuit (Fla.) as they won the top 20 matchup by 14 runs. Orange Lutheran heads into the state playoffs after a sweep to end the regular season while Argyle continues to truck along.

There is a lot of shakeup within the top 10 starting with No. 4 Calvary Christian Academy (Fla.) as they dropped to No. 43 following three consecutive losses last week. Cypress (Calif.) climbs to No. 4 while Colleyville Heritage (Texas) rejoins the top five at No. 5 following a strong week. Blanchard (Okla.) comes in at No. 6 as they have still not lost a game this season while the rest of the top 10 features Georgetown (Texas), Parkview (Ga.), DeSoto Central (Miss.) and Barbe (La.) at Nos. 7 through 10, respectively.

New additions to the Top 50 include the following: No. 38 Mosley (Fla.), No. 39 The Woodlands (Texas), No. 44 North Gwinnett (Ga.), No. 46 St. Ignatius (Ohio), No. 47 Mountain Vista (Colo.), and No. 48 Franklin (Mass.). Mosley dropped their second game of the season last week, but came out victorious against another good school in Pace (Fla.) as their record stands at 20-2. The Woodlands and Mountain Vista rejoin the rankings after being included earlier in the year while North Gwinnett looks to make some noise in the GHSA playoffs. St. Ignatius looks like one of the more talented teams in the Midwest while Franklin is currently enjoying a 12-0 start to their season.

Most of the Southeast has moved on past the first round of the state playoffs and are continuing their paths toward a potential state championship. The Northeast and Midwest states are in full-swing, with the exception of a late April snowstorm in some parts of the Midwest. Most of California wrapped up regular season play last week while Florida will wrap up their regular seasons this week. State championships are won or lost in May and it will be fun watching these teams duke it out for glory.
