2019 Top Prospects

David Wilson  1B - 2019 - Austin, TX
Stephen F. Austin

Wilson is a seriously strong young man at 6-1/205, although he looks taller than listed. He had the best raw bat speed of the event from the right side and really got the ball to jump hard off the barrel. Wilson also lit up the gun, throwing 92 from the outfield and 90 mph from first base while running a 7.14.

Ty Mongo  OF - 2019 - Lantana, TX
Hill College

Mongo is a very athletic 6-1/180 outfielder and his 6.58 sixty was especially impressive on what was a slow running track. That and his 87 mph arm strength make him a very good centerfield candidate. He has a short and quick right handed swing with good bat speed.

Austin Roccaforte  SS - 2019 - Tomball, TX
Wichita State

Roccaforte lacks size at 5-7/140 but he is a quick twitch athlete with surprising strength for his build. He ran a 6.85 sixty and showed definite bat speed and barrel whip from the right side. He's plenty athletic enough to stay in the middle infield at the next level.

Hunter Johnson  C - 2019 - New Braunfels, TX
Uncommitted

Johnson has solid all around tools for a catcher at the next level, including quick feet and a strong arm behind the plate. He has a simple hitting approach from the right side with a quick line drive middle of the field swing approach.

Drew Galyean  OF - 2019 - Henderson, TX
East Texas Baptist University

Galyean has a very projectable 6-4/180 build and good speed for his size with a 6.99 sixty time. His most impressive tool was his raw left handed power and how often he can get to that with his unusual swing mechanics will determine his ceiling.

Darius Charles  2B - 2019 - Missouri City, TX
Uncommitted

Charles is undersized at 5-4/135 but has some compact strength and plenty of quick twitch athleticism on both sides of the ball. He's a prototypical second baseman with his quickness and ability to generate hard line drive contact at the top of the order.

David Amaya  OF - 2019 - Houston, TX
Coastal Bend

Amaya is a 6-2/190 athlete with solid overall athleticism and good present strength that is still projectable. He has smooth actions in the outfield and will continue to improve as a hitter when he learns how to use his strength and leverage more effectively.

Lorenzo Martinez  RHP - 2019 - Houston, TX
Uncommitted

Martinez has a young and projectable 6-1/178 build and a loose arm that produced a fastball up to 83 mph and a tight 70 mph breaking ball while showing a feel for the strike zone. There's more velocity in there with physical maturity.
