Top 5 Prospects

1. Ryan Watson, rhp, Pompano Beach (Auburn/JR in 2019)
Watson certainly looks the part at 6-foot-5, 215-pounds, but his effectiveness has been inconsistent over his first two years at Auburn, mostly coming out of the bullpen. His stuff is legitimate with a sinker/slider profile given his low-90s heat with late movement and low-80s slider. He can throw both a curveball and a changeup, and his deep arsenal allowed him to serve as a starter this summer, gaining some valuable on-the-mound experience. His command is inconsistent, somewhat due to the late life on his fastball, so how he builds on his success from this past summer will be key in his future development as a junior at Auburn.

2. Bryce Hulett, 1b, Boca Raton (State College of Florida/SO in 2019)
Part of a powerful State College of Florida lineup during his freshman year, Hulett has the profile of a pure hitter with a left/left profile. After hitting .327 in the spring he hit .375 this past summer with 12 extra-base hits in 34 games. At 6-foot-2, 195-pounds he has an athletic and powerful frame and in time it is expected that some of his doubles will start turning into home runs as he learns to hit the ball in the air. He currently has more of a gap-to-gap approach, and while he currently plays first base he could be tried in left field to broaden his versatility.

3. Keegan Collett, rhp, Palm Beach (Florida Gulf Coast/JR in 2019)
After spending his first two years at Northern Oklahoma Junior College Collett has transferred to Florida Gulf Coast for his junior year, and had left a strong impression on coaches and scouts alike during his in-state tuneup in the South Florida Collegiate League. The size and stuff profile is there, with a sturdy 6-foot-4, 215-pound build and an upper-80s to low-90s fastball that peaks at 94-95. Primarily used in a relief role this past summer, Collett struggled with control, walking 19 in 13 2/3 inning. However, he also struck out 28 and allowed just six base hits, a testament to his stuff, which includes a low-80s slider that also flashes promise.

4. Matheu Nelson, c, Delray Beach (Florida State/FR in 2019)
A long-time member of the Florida Burn travel program in high school, Nelson is one of the most polished offensive players to head to college. An unsigned 39th-round draft pick this past June, his time in the South Florida League was brief, spending just six games with Delray Beach. And while he batted .200 during that time, two of his three hits were home runs, a small taste of his hitting prowess. Defensively he offers versatility, with good quickness and a strong arm behind the plate that would also allow him to play other corner positions while his approach should allow him to enjoy immediate success as a freshman at Florida State.

5. Jorge Iza, ss, Pompano Beach (New Orleans/JR in 2019)
Iza will be playing at his third school in as many years, transferring to New Orleans after spending his first two seasons at Farleigh Dickinson and Palm Beach State. While he handles the bat well and employs a line drive, high contact approach, he is best known for his defense and overall versatility, as he can play any of the three infield positions with a strong arm, good footwork and soft hands. There’s a little bit of pop in his swing as well, hitting three home runs this past summer, with some speed on the basepaths to boot.
