EMERSON, Ga. – Last Monday night, 12 graduates of the Perfect Game Junior National Showcase were selected in the first round of the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft, including Jonathan India (2013 Jr. National) and Jarred Kelenic (2016), the Nos. 5 and 6 overall picks, respectively. Who’s next?

The 18th annual PG Jr. National Showcase has found a new home at Perfect Game Park-LakePoint and will begin its four-day run on Saturday, June 9, and concluding on Tuesday, June 12. The showcase is among the most heavily scouted underclass events in the world and is sure to draw hundreds of college recruiters and MLB scouting department personnel.

Right around 260 of the top prep prospects from the classes of 2020 and 2021 will be at PG Park-LakePoint for the invitation-only event. Many of these highly regarded prospects were in attendance at the PG 14u Select Baseball Festival in Fort Myers, Fla., in either 2016 or 2017.

Twenty-five of the top 50-ranked prospects from the class of 2020 will be here, a number that includes nine of the top 20. Leading the parade is No. 1-ranked Austin Hendrick, an outfielder from Oakdale, Pa., and a Mississippi State commit, and No. 4 Dylan Crews, and outfielder from Longwood, Fla., with a Louisiana State commitment.

Other top 2020s on hand include No. 9 left-hander Liam Norris (Cary, N.C., North Carolina commit); No. 10 left-hander Jackson Phipps (Dallas, Ga., South Carolina); No. 12 outfielder Alex Greene (Edgewater, Md., Virginia); No. 14 outfielder Brandon Fields (Orlando, Fla., uncommitted); No. 18 first baseman Kellum Clark (Jackson, Miss., Mississippi State); No. 19 right-hander Masyn Winn (Kingwood, Texas, Stanford) and No. 20 third baseman Cayden Wallace (Greenbrier, Ark., Arkansas). Crews, Norris and Phipps were at the 2016 PG Select Baseball Festival.

Thirteen of the top 50-ranked 2021s will also be on hand, and that includes five ranked in the top 20. This delegation is led by No. 1-ranked Blaze Jordan, a slugging corner-infielder from Southaven, Miss., and yet another Mississippi State recruit.

No. 14 right-hander/first baseman Irving Carter (Boynton Beach, Fla., Miami); No. 17 shortstop/outfielder Jordan Lawler (Irving, Texas, uncommitted); No. 18 catcher/third baseman Jayden Melendez (Palmetto Bay, Fla., Florida International) and No. 19 middle-infielder Noah Smith (Chicago, Ill., Louisville) are the other top-20 2021s that will perform.

All five of those 2021 prospects were at the 2017 PG Select Baseball Festival. Performing well at the 14u Select Festival and other 14u and 15u showcases and tournaments helped these prospects receive an invitation to the Jr. National. A solid performance here over the event’s four-day run will increase a player’s chances of receiving an invite to the 2019 PG National Showcase.

With the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft now in the books, 440 alumni of the PG Jr. National Showcase have been drafted, including 42 first-rounders and another 22 first round compensation picks. Thirty-two Jr. National grads have made their big-league debuts, a number that includes the Nationals’ Bryce Harper; the Cubs’ Albert Almora and Addison Russell, the Rockies’ Nolan Arenado, the Indians’ Francisco Lindor and the Astros’ Lance McCullers.
