PG European Classic Championships

The stage was set for the PG Inaugural European Classic championship. Czech Baseball Academy  would enter the game with a 4-0 record and the contender Czech National Team at 3-1.  Both squads have played fantastic baseball over the weekend. The Czech Baseball Academy got things going in the bottom of the second as Filip Votava would single to RF. Votava showed the wheels on the bases when he stole 2nd and 3rd base. Michal Sindelka who has been a force all week, drove in Votava on a line drive to CF. Czech Baseball would strike again in the bottom of the 4th,  plating to runs. Matous Bubenik smashed a homerun and Votava would follow up with a triple. Sindelka would drive in his 2nd RBI of the game with a line drive to CF. The Czech National Team would make a run in the top of the 6th when Filip Kubicek drew a walk and then advance to 2nd base on a wild pitch. Benjamin Orourke, had a 13 Pitch at bat and would eventually reach on an error, which allowed Kubicek to score, shrinking the lead to 2. With the tying run at the plate,  a fly ball to center would complete the game. The Czech Baseball Academy would be crowned Champions of the 12u PG European Championships. A lot of players from each side contributed to each teams success over the weekend. Filip Votova pitched a complete game, striking out 6, giving up only 1 run and 2 hits throwing a stellar performance in the Championship Game.

In the 15u PG Inaugural  European Classic, the two teams headed to the ship were the Czech Baseball Academy and the KMC Ambassadors. After pool play ended, Czech Baseball Academy game into the game with a 3-0-1 record and the KMC Ambassadors with a 3-1 record. There was some high energy in the stadium as the Czech Baseball Academy took the field.  Botis Vecerka took the mound for the Czech team and pitched a strong 3 2/3rds inning, striking out 4  and not giving up a run. Czech Baseball Academy would give Vecerka the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Ondrej Filip drove in Adam Prudil with a single to left field. The Czech Baseball Academy would extend the lead in the bottom of the fourth to go up 5-0. KMC Ambassadors threatened in the top of the 4th with bases loaded, but could not push any runs across. The Czech Baseball Academy would take home the 1st Place finish and be crowned champions of the tournament.

3rd Place-

A rematch of a great game yesterday was in store for 3rd place between South Maravian Little League and the Hrosi Brno squads.  It was another nail biter that wouldn’t disappoint. Hrosi Brno took the early lead and would extend it to 2-0 in the top of the 4th. South Maravia chipped away the next two innings to tie the score at 5. After a brief rain delay, it was looking as if it was going to head to extras. Hrosi Brno took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 6th.  South Moravia would do it again in walk off fashion and score two in the bottom of the 6th to seal the 3rd place title.  Pavel Jozek ripped a triple with 2 on to plate the winning run. An overall great performance by both teams in the 3rd place game. South Moravia was led by Jozek , Jan Klee, Jan Urbanek, and tomas Nahodil. Adam Skala threw a complete game, striking out 6 and only giving up 4 hits. Hrosi Brno Jonas Werner had two hits and 2 RBI’s, while Viktor Beranek threw very well on the mound, tossing 5 innings with 8 ks.

The 3rd place matchup was between Europe All Stars and the Czech National Team . Europe All Stars got off to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Czech National would make a run and put a 4 spot on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third.  After a brief rain delay, the action resumed. Czech National would extend the lead in the bottom of the 5th and that was all they needed to take home the 3rd place.  Tadeas Kalcev, Nicolas Orourke and Matej Klang led the offense with 2 hits a piece. Nicolas Orourke hurled a gem, tossing 5 innings, 6ks , 1 Run and only 2 hits. Europe All Stars Paris Kevin Ketema, Vojtech Kupsky, Patrik Mostek and Milan Tomecek all had a hit in the game.

In the first game of the day, Regensburg Academy was taking on the Austrian Baseball Academy in the 5th place game.  It was a deadlocked matchup until Regensburg Academy crossed 2 runs in the top of the 4th. Austria would answer in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead scoring 3 runs. Austrian Baseball Academy would extend the lead in the following inning adding a run to make the score 4-2. That would be all they needed as closed it out in the 6th. Austrian Baseball Academy was led by Elias Kreska, Moritz Moses Mueller, Philipp Bollenberger, Lennard Halper, and Luis Portner who each had a hit in the game. Regensburg Academy’s Jackub Huber, Hauke Wedemann, Michael Schoberl and Julian Zistl also had hits in the game.

All Star Eastern Europe matched up against Prague Academy in the 5th place game. Prague Academy scored first in the bottom of the second to take the lead.  All Star Eastern Europe would answer in the top half of the 3rd to go up 4-1.  All Star Eastern Europe would hold the lead from there on out to grab the win.  All Star Eastern Europe was led by Ignas Pauliukevicius who had 2 RBI’s and a triple, Titas Vaitkevicius had a double and 3 RBI’s  and Kiril Burdzin pitched 5 innings with 3 ks. Prague Academy’s Petr Vojta, Marek Slaby, and Jan Uhlir each knocked a triple each.
