National High School Top 50: May 8

The Perfect Game/Rawlings National High School Top 50 is back after a week off and the rankings have endured quite the shakeup. With state playoffs reaching their championships, and getting close to concluding, there has been pretty significant upheaval near the middle and tail end of the rankings, although most of the top teams remain the same. Blessed Trinity (Ga.), Harvard Westlake (Calif.), Lake Travis (Texas), Puyallup (Wash.), Desert Oasis (Nev.) and Niceville (Fla.) were the only teams in the top 20 to be eliminated in the state playoffs.

Congratulations are in order to Faith Academy (Ala.), Wesleyan La Cueva (N.M.), Wesleyan Christian (N.C.), Har-Ber (Ark.) and Bishop England (S.C.) who were the ranked teams to capture championships in their respective states during the past week. Hattiesburg (Miss.), Desoto Central (Miss.), Farragut (Tenn.) and Loganville (Ga.) are new entries to the rankings to be crowned state champs.

A number of new teams cracked the rankings, including old members of the High School Top 50 in Bolles (Fla.), Cypress Ranch (Texas), Loganville (Ga.) and St. Augustine Prep (N.J.). The other not mentioned new teams are Palo Verde (Nev.), North Florida Christian (Fla.), Dixie (Utah), Bergen Catholic (N.J.), Mira Costa (Calif.), Marantha (Calif.), Liberty Christian (Va.), Godley (Texas) and Westview (Ore.).

The rankings are sure to change as there are a number of championships still to be had. Stay tuned to Perfect Game as there is no better time for baseball than the high school state playoffs.
