JUCO Top 25: April 24 | Top 250 Junior College Prospects

With the regular season either done or just about done in most places, JUCO teams across the country are gearing up for the playoff grind as we move towards finding the eventual national champions at several different levels. As for this week's rankings, there was a fair bit of movement up and down the list, while a couple new teams joined the Top 25.

Walters State (Tenn.) has reached the 50-win plateau, a remarkable achievement especially when it's done pre-playoffs, and as such they remain at No. 1 spot in the rankings, a spot they've occupied for about two months now. San Joaquin Delta (Calif.) jumped one spot to No. 2, their highest ranking of the season, as they continue their hot streak in NorCal. Wabash Valley (Ill.) likewise jumped one spot to their highest ranking of the season at No. 3, and San Jac (Texas) slipped a pair of spots to No. 4 after a weekend split with Blinn. Chipola (Fla.), the defending National Champions in NJCAA D-I, has already repeated as Panhandle Conference champs, and rose up to No. 5 this week as a result as they gear up to defend their title.

Connors State (Okla.) jumped up a pair of spots to No. 6 as they continue their strong season, which has seen them consistently in the Top 10 for most of the year. LSU-Eunice, the highest-ranked NJCAA D-II club, stays steady at No. 7 this week as they check in with an impressive mark of 44-5 thus far. South Mountain (Ariz.) dropped for what seems like the first time all season, down a few spots but still retaining their slot in the Top 10 at No. 8. Florence-Darlington (S.C.) has been one of the more consistent teams all season and they stay steady this week at No. 9. Cisco (Texas) is the biggest riser this week, jumping all the way to No. 10 overall following a four-game sweep of Weatherford. Cisco was dinged a bit early in the season due to their strength of schedule, but over the past month they have put those concerns to bed having split with Grayson, taking three of four from McLennan and then sweeping Weatherford.

Arizona Western checks back into the Top 25 this week following a few week absence following a week which saw them sweep pairs from both Yavapai and South Mountain. They are gearing up for a huge Region 1 playoff series with Central Arizona this weekend in what may just be the series of the week across JUCO baseball. Southern Idaho joins Arizona Western as a newcomer this week, checking in with a record of 40-8 and in the midst of a 12-game winning streak. They have a big four-game set with Southern Nevada this weekend, a team they've already swept a four-game series from, though this time the series is on the road at CSN.

Rankings are based on games through Sunday, April 29.
