JUCO Top 25: April 17 | Top 250 Junior College Prospects

We're starting to come down the stretch of the season in JUCO baseball across the country, and as teams jockey for position in conference tournaments, several teams have separated themselves as being the cream of the crop, at this juncture anyways. The top four spots remain the same, with Walters State (Tenn.) remaining in the No. 1 spot for yet another week. San Jacinto (Texas), San Joaquin Delta (Calif.) and Wabash Valley (Ill.) stayed in the 2-3-4 spots this week, respectively. South Mountain (Ariz.), who has seen as big an ascent up the rankings this season as anyone, reached yet another new high this week as they check in at No. 5 overall.

Though there are no newcomers to the rankings this week, there was a great deal of movement as several teams in the middle of the pack had very strong weeks while several higher-ranked teams stumbled a bit. Chipola (Fla.) checks in at No. 6, their highest ranking since the preseason edition. LSU-Eunice, our highest-ranked NJCAA D-II school, climbed four spots to No. 7 overall for their first ranking in the top 10 this season. Connors State (Okla.) climbed back into the Top 10 at No. 8 after being on the outside looking in for a few weeks. Florence Darlington (S.C.) made their Top 10 debut as well at No. 9, while Santa Fe (Fla.) tumbled a couple spots but remain in the top 10 at No. 10 overall.

Cisco (Texas) won a convincing series over previous No. 5 McLennan (Texas), taking three of the four games in that series and earning a much-needed signature series win in a season that has seen them dominate but against a very weak schedule overall. Taking three games from McLennan gives them that statement win. Iowa Western keeps moving up, checking in at No. 13 this week, up from No. 15, and coach Rardin's team has been nothing short of dominant this season with a record of 37-5.

The bottom portion of the rankings this week look much the same as they did a week ago, with no newcomers but also no one really separating themselves yet. Grayson (Texas) had a big series win over the weekend against Ranger, but perhaps their biggest overall test of the season comes this weekend when they will see McLennan for a four-game set.

Rankings are based on games through Sunday, April 22.
