Players are listed in alphabetical order and are chosen based on the impression they made during the Area Code Games in Long Beach, California, August 6-10, 2017

Position Players

Nick Decker, OF (Southhampton, N.J.): It would not be surprising if many national level scouts considered Decker one of the top half dozen hitters in the 2018 class now that the summer circuit is drawing to a close. He has put together an almost continuous string of quality at-bats against the best pitchers in the country and has looked increasingly athletic in doing so.

Xavier Edwards, SS (Wellington, Fla.): Scouts are beginning to appreciate Edwards well rounded defensive and offensive skills the more they see the diminutive infielder. While it's usually his defense that shines, Edwards likely led the event in hits, including one game where he laid down a perfect bunt for an uncontested single his first trip, then tripled over the right fielder's head in his second trip.

Nolan Gorman, SS/3B (Phoenix, Ariz.): Gorman hit perhaps the furthest ball this scout has seen in two decades of covering the Area Code Games during batting practice with a missile launch off the top of the right-center field scoreboard, which isn't even remotely in play for most hitters. He also narrowly missed an opposite field home run in the games.
