The lefthanded Hassell is one of the country’s top two-way performers and it’s uncertain whether he’ll end up on the mound or in center field in the long-term future. He went 5-2, 1.07 with 113 strikeouts in 59 innings this spring for Independence High School and has been up to 91 mph with his fastball. Hassell’s offensive numbers were even more impressive, as he posted .410-12-33 line with an eye-opening 43 walks.
