Turning in one of the better rounds of batting practice of anyone at the PG National Showcase in mid-June was McConnell, who offers a strong combination of athleticism and barrel feel. His swing works well through the zone with above average bat speed and leverage created. Despite his size, McConnell moves well in the infield, charging well and routinely showing off a strong arm across. The Florida commit has also proven to be a nemesis on the bases for opposing pitchers with good instincts while showcasing his speed.
