Saams is a slender 6-0 junior third baseman from Texas. He does a lot of things well on the baseball field right now. His body and frame are projectable. At the plate, Saams has a good fundamental swing with a line drive swing plane with a bit of a hand hitch timer that puts him behind the ball occasionally. He showed nice defensive ability at third base and especially showed nice range to either side. Saams also threw 2 shutout innings, showing a short, loose arm stroke and a low ¾’s release point. His fastball was 74-77 mph with good command and his 60 mph curveball had a big sweeping break to it. Saams is an excellent student.
