2005 Sunshine West Showcase
David Royster is a 2006 first baseman from Carter HS in Rialto, California, with a 6'1", 180 lb. frame. Royster has a projectable body with good shoulders and a thin waist. He is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance and a high hand set. Royster shows good bat speed with a slight loft in his swing plane. He takes little to no stride, but transfers his weight well and has good balance and leverage in his swing. Royster has quiet hands and is short and compact to the ball with some present raw power with more to come as he continues to grow into his frame. Defensively he made some very good plays in the showcase games showing soft hands and good footwork. Royster sometimes kept his knees stiff during the infield workout portion, but didn't take those fielding mechanics into the game. Royster is a projectable player with developing power.
