Scott Shipley is a 2007 MIF/3B/P with a 5'9'', 175 lb. frame from The Woodlands TX, who attends The Woodlands College Prep. He has a compact, athletic build, with good present day strength. Shipley is a solid ballplayer, with a nice all-around game. At the plate he showed good hands and some feel for hitting. He is short to the ball and hits to all fields, with a balanced, contact line drive stroke that is well-suited to the two-hole. His barrel lags a bit, suggesting that there is some gap power in his future, when he gets a bit stronger and picks up little more bat speed. Defensively he also showed good hands. Shipley is a gamer. He knows the game and feels the game. He has a nice first step and takes good angles to the ball. His arm is suited best to 2nd base but for some college levels he can play shortstop. Shipley also pitched and competed well. He showed good mechanics and competed to the zone. His fastball topped at 82 and showed some sink, with control to both sides of the plate. He is a very good student and a good baseball player that can compete at the D1 level. He plays at one of the top baseball programs in Texas.
