Cole Clarkson is a 2021 RHP/2B with a 6-3 165 lb. frame from Tucson, AZ who attends Ironwood Ridge. Extra-large, athletic frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, works exclusively out of the stretch, long arm action through the backside working up to a high three-quarters release point, creates angle at release and works quickly on the mound. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, lands closed with strike foot, worked around the zone and pitched ahead. Tunnels curveball well and consistently worked on top of the ball showing nice spin up to 66 mph while flashing a changeup up to 69 mph. Fields the ball out front in the infield with a wide base, deliberate footwork and can continue to work through the ball, shows ability to drop slot on the charge, carry on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Works on a linear path through the zone, shorter to the ball, occasionally gets to front side early, short recoil at contact. Very good student.
