Jeffery Nelson is a 2008 C with a 5'11'', 175 lb. frame from Lincoln NE, who attends Lincoln Southwest HS. He has an athletic, projectable frame with some present strength and the promise for more. Nelson's best defensive skill was his accurate arm. He didn't look like he was used to receiving the higher velocity pitchers he saw at the showcase but he has the physical tools to improve with more experience and showed the type of work ethic you want to see in a catcher.. Offensively, Nelson hit from an open stance with hands tight to his body. He kept his weight back well and showed some bat speed and hand strength. He swung the bat well in games and was at his best when pulled the ball. Nelson's swing is short and line drive oriented, more extension through the ball could result in more power in the future.
