Cole Gobbell is a 2008 MIF/OF from Father Ryan HS in Nashville, TN, with a 5'9'', 160 lb. frame. He has a strong, compact body with good strength for a sophomore. Gobbell showed good speed running the 60 in 7.13 and threw 71 mph during infield drills. He has good balance defensively, quick feet and works through the ball well. His hands and actions play in the middle of the infield. His arm strength is developing. At the plate, Gobbell shows very quick hands and nice bat speed for a sophomore. He hits out of a calm approach with very good balance. Gobbell has very quick hips and that helps him get the bat through the zone in a hurry. He has surprising power in his bat for a young middle infielder and has the bat head skills to drive the ball consistently. Gobbell has a line drive swing plane and gets his hands extended through the ball on contact. He's a very good looking young hitter with with a bright future. Very good follow! Gobbell is also a good student.
