Farlinger is a right-handed catcher with a strong arm and moves well. Fielding bunts, she did an excellent job getting around the ball to make quick and accurate throws to 1st base. When throwing down to second base, Farlinger threw from her knees, showing great mechanics and ability to make the quick and accurate throw.
She showed good consistent work behind the plate, setting up both conventional and with one knee down. She presented targets equally as well in either set-up, and worked her glove from the ground up when receiving pitches. She was encouraging to her pitcher and worked to settle her down when she missed a few pitches.
Offensively, Riya is a right-handed hitter who set up in a wide base and showed good use of her lower half. She was able to work the ball to all fields. With continued development of her hand and barrel path and increasing her barrel speed and awareness, her offensive output will continue to grow. She is built strong and has good potential.
