2022 WWBA Workout Showcase (June 23)
Craig Thurmond is a 2024 SS/MIF with a 5-8 140 lb. frame from Toccoa, GA who attends Stephens County. Medium current frame with long, lean look and plenty of room to add strength and overall muscularity. Really opened eyes with his 6.57 time in the 60 yard dash. Middle infielder that really looks the part on the clay, showing good range and lateral mobility. Glove is solid as is but will refine his actions and have elite feel with the glove down the line as he simplifies the process. Fields out front and funnels ball deep to midline working good in transition leading to fairly accurate throws. Showed velocity across the diamond up to 81 mph with good accuracy. Would be interesting to see him go get it in the outfield with his foot speed. RHH working with a balanced stance and high hand set. Enhanced leg lift to load to his backside and generated good bat speed. Showed the ability to cover the majority of the zone with an accurate bat head. Emerging power that should be exciting with time and strength gains. Mature approach at the plate driving the ball to all fields. Really good student with a lot to look forward to in the near future.
