PG Grade: 8
Matt Graeff is a 2009 P/SS/OF with a 6'1'', 173 lb. frame from Kennesaw, GA who attends Harrison HS. He has an athletic build with some length and projection. Graeff had solid pitching mechanics that he repeated well. He throws from an over the top release point and opens a bit early to get his arm through. His arm is love and works well with a short arm arch. Graeff's fastball topped out at 84 mph and was consistently in the 80-82 mph range. He pretty much reached back and got 84 whenever he wanted it. Graeff's breaking ball was a tight 12/6 curveball in the mid 60's. His straight change was a nice pitch as well and Graeff showed confidence and command of all his pitches. Graeff plays shortstop when he's not pitching. He has a short, flat line drive swing and makes consistent solid contact to the middle of the field. He's a good overall athlete and should continue to develop.
