KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Jadeyn Stahr is a 5'5, class of 2023, RHP/3B, OF, UT from Ankeny, IA who attends Ankeny Centennial HS. Jadeyn is a solid, upper-class, veteran player who has a sound projectability at a couple of positions and at the plate. She ran a 3.37 20-yard dash with a 1.10 5-yard split. A primary RHP, Jadeyn's promise in the circle jumps out initially due to her ability to really spin all her pitches. She has repetitive actions in her operation that help hide the ball and causes a great deal of deception in her delivery. Has to be tough on hitters trying to track the ball. She throws a sound four pitch mix. Her curveball shows consistent glove side break and tumble. The break is short, but the drop component plays well. The drop looks similar in appearance as her CB, but doesn't have the noticeable break and has a tick more drop at the plate. Both the CB and DR are thrown with the same action, but there is an obvious difference. She commands these two pitches to her glove side routinely. Her rise appears to serve as her "get me over" pitch. Not a big jumper, but has late, quick hop and she has plus command on this offering. She combines her rise with a solid change-up that is thrown with plus arm speed and tumbles late. She has a plus repertoire that she ably commands. There is still more there and her pitchability will improve even more as she completes her last two years of HS and travel ball. Jadeyn also took a turn in the IF and shows advanced actions there. She is athletic and twitchy. Her first step quickness is impressive. She is a smooth fielder with an easy glove. She makes a routine transition and her 55-mph throws highlight a very strong arm that plays up. Her throws are all routinely accurate. Nice round on the dirt! At the plate, Jadeyn is sound. Her bunt game is solid. She is balanced at the ready and has a quick trigger. Gets to and through contact well. She can drive the ball with some loud force. There is also some emerging power that should only get better. Jadeyn has a real chance to impact a college program at a couple of different positions and especially at the plate. Her upside potential is real. Like her positive body language!
