Yuichiro Sugiyama is a 2020 IF/ with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Sapporo, HK who is an international free agent. Developing build with a projectable future frame. Primary infielder, possesses soft hands that work fluidly through the baseball. Aggressive reads, is not afraid to come up and play off a more ideal hop. Footwork side to side is solid, able to cover ground, glove work always gives him a chance at making a play. Arm strength across the diamond is still developing and should improve as his frame fills out. At the plate, uses an even stance with a longer stroke through the zone. No real weight shift in the box as his strong hands provide most of the pop. Low hanging leg lift trigger lands early allowing his lower half to fire early. Line drive plane with a middle of the field approach.
