Matthew Gambrel is a 2021 C/3B, MIF with a 5-7 150 lb. frame from Cincinnati, OH who attends Walnut Hills. Medium build with present athleticism. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Employs an even start with upright actions working from behind the plate. Flashed developing footwork gaining ground well from behind the plate. Flashed clean transfers into throws with good arm strength from behind the plate as well. Also worked out defensively in the infield. Flashed deliberate actions working to and through the ball. Showed good range working to both sides of the infield including a clean backhand. Displayed good arm strength across the infield with accurate carry to the bases. Right handed hitter. Employs an upright narrow stance with a little stride and a big hand load. Utilizes a slightly elevated barrel path with developing barrel control creating some loud contact to and through the gaps when on time and squared. Good student.
