Nicholas Rodrigues is a 2020 C/RHP with a 6-0 200 lb. frame from Rocky Hill, CT who attends Xavier. Large frame with strong, physical build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.38 seconds. Hits from wide-spread and even-based stance, rocks back into load, smaller leg lift trigger, whole-field approach with line drive swing plane, heaviness to barrel when he squares it up, can jump on a line, strength is evident through swing and contact. Worked out behind the plate, side-saddle set, narrow stance, straight stride out into throws, elongated arm stroke and transfer, clocked up to 70 mph on throws. Also pitched, methodical takeaway though arm stroke with hook on the back side, extends well out front, overtop slot, fastball worked 75-79 mph with good plane, pounds the zone, good arm side run and sink on fastball, flashed curveball with 12/6 shape and solid spin. Good student.
