Chris Walden is a 2006 RHP/OF from Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, AZ, with a 5'10", 180 lb. frame. Walden throws from a high 3/4 to over the top arm slot with good arm speed. His fastball is straight because of his high arm slot, but he works both sides of the plate with good control. Walden's fastball topped out at 83 mph, and he mixed in a curveball at 71 mph with an 11/5 tilt that was sharp at times. Walden slowed his arm on his changeup at 71 mph, but showed a good feel for the pitch. He allowed only 1 hit during his 3 innings of work and struck out 3. In the outfield he showed good carry on his throws with solid arm strength and was very accurate. Walden has some strength in his swing and gets good leverage when he keeps his weight back. Walden is a solid two way player that could really develop on the mound. He has a very good breaking ball and a good feel for his changeup, and with added velocity he could really be tough on hitters. Walden is also a very good student.
