Andrew Baughn is a 2020 RHP/ with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Rancho. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather with slight coil. Worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Deep arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball produced good downhill tilt with natural cut to glove side in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 mph. Slider had 9/6 shape with looser spin and some sweep to glove side. Also showed a curveball offering that hand more depth in the upper 60's. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with off speed. Consistently challenge hitters and located all three offerings within the zone. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and toe tap trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to contact with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Shows developing feel for the barrel with present strength to the gaps when squared. Very good student. Named to the 2019 West Academic Showcase, Top Prospect List.
