Vernon Duke is a 2023 RHP/1B, 3B, OF with a 5-6 130 lb. frame from Baytown, TX who attends Goose Creek Memorial. Medium frame with slender, athletic build; body projects well. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.58 seconds. Primary righthanded pitcher, easy effort and operation on the mound, overtop arm slot creates good plane to the plate, fastball worked 74-75 mph with good running life and some sink, uses lower half well, mixed in curveball with good depth, did a nice job throwing strikes. Hits from open stance, high hand set, engages hips in swing well, showed good contact skills, aggressive approach with feel for the barrel. Shows range in the infield to both sides with good balance to actions, fields cleanly out front, clocked up to 72 mph. Also took outfield reps, fields cleanly out front with two hands, stays under control through movements, clocked up to 72 mph. Good student.
