Ryan Dull is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 5'11'', 155 lb. frame from Winston-Salem, NC who attends East Forsyth HS. He has a lean, lively build and loose, athletic actions overall. Dull throws from a high energy delivery with a loose, long arm action and an extended 3/4's release point. He has some recoil at release. The energy in Dull's delivery doesn't create much deception and he would probably benefit from toning everything down a bit, as his arm is loose and whippy enough to create velocity. Dull was consistently 83-85 mph with his fastball and it was mostly straight. His curveball was a quality pitch at times, with hard spin and a sharp bite at 72 mph. His change up is developing. Dull showed very good arm strength during infield drills, although his defensive action were on the raw side. He also flashed some bat speed and power potential with the bat. Overall, Dull is a good athlete with quick twitch actions and some wiry strength. He has the tools to keep improving if he can smooth out his pitching mechanics. Dull is also a good student.
