Chase McKelvey is a 2023 3B/RHP with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Saint Helena, SC who attends Beaufort. Recorded a 7.12 second sixty-yard dash time. Long, lean frame with plenty of time to fill out. Primary third baseman with athletic actions throughout the fielding process, good lateral range to either side and present arm strength. Exhibits controlled approach, using good footwork into the process, funneling cleanly out in front and working downhill through the baseball. Recorded arm strength up to 85 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Simple delivery with belt high leg lift, good lower half movements down the slope and quick arm stroke. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 80s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 86 mph from a extended three-quarters arm slot. Confident strike thrower that repeats well, filling up the zone with his fastball that flashes hard running life to his arm-side when in-sync. Mixed in sharp breaking ball that varied in shape, flashing good present spin traits and future swing-and-miss potential. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Simple, repeatable stroke with some compact bat speed, feel for the barrel and the ability to adjust when necessary. Whole field approach with some impact to the middle and opposite fields. Intriguing present tools with high upside on the mound, will continue to improve with minor refinements and additional strength. Excellent Student.
