Marco Arroyo is a 2023 C/SS, UT with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends Loyola Academy. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Primary catcher with a balanced stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground towards the bag while working out of crouch with sound footwork. Looser glove circle at exchange and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced on line carry to the bag topping at 72 mph, best workout pop time 2.00. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance and simple leg lift trigger. Clean hand path to baseball with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Flashed good bat speed with the ability to throw barrel head to contact. Primarily looked to drive the ball to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Clean leg lift and stays balanced at gather. Displayed good arm quickness from a three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed solid downhill plane with occasional run in the mid 70's, topped at 77 mph. Curveball showed tight 12/6 shape with good depth when maintaining arm speed through extension. Good student.
