John “Jd” Alcalar is a 2022 SS/1B/3B with a 5-8 170 lb. frame from Thorndale, TX who attends Thorndale. Young build with strength in his hips and lower half. Right handed hitter, hits from an upright stance, big backwards move to start his swing, will need to make adjustments in his direction to contact, long level swing that keeps the barrel in the zone for a long time. 7.79 runner, has young footwork in the middle infield, tends to throw from his backside similarly as the way he starts his swing, compact arm stroke with developing arm strength. Very good student.
