Evan Elwood is a 2023 OF/ with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from San Carlos, CA who attends Junipero Serra HS. Evan is a solid young athlete who shows emerging ability and a sound understanding of the fundamentals needed to succeed at the highest level. In addition to his noticeable ability on the diamond, Evan is also an exemplary student. A primary outfielder, Evan shows advanced ability in all phases. His strength and athleticism are quite apparent. Twitch is off the charts. Most noticeable about Evan is his great effort level. He reads the ball off the bat well and positions quickly. He plays through the fielding action with gathering momentum. His glove is pure. His transition is sound and routine and his 74 mph throws hold their plane and are highly accurate. He is a quality defender who is just figuring this whole thing out. Really sound projectable ability that will only get better. Evan also shines at the plate. He is balanced at the ready and uses an easy and quiet load. He has a noticeably quick trigger and shows strength in his hands. He incorporates his solid lower half into each pass and produces plus torque. He has plus feel for the barrel and has easy gap to gap pop. He flashed some raw power that will certainly grow as he matures and gains more high level experience. Evan has the makings of being an elite, projectable player. His skill set right now is truly sound for a younger guy. He'll be fun to follow over the next three years. Big upside.
