Phoenix Betancourt is a 2022 1B/RHP, C with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Hilton Head Island, SC who attends Hilton Head Island. Medium and physically advanced frame. Ran a 7.70 second 60 yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the baseball out in front with two hands, some quick-twitch to his actions and best when under control, bounces off of the bag well with developing footwork on turns to second, young arm strength that projects moving forward. Secondary righthanded pitcher, low effort delivery beginning with a side step up to a belt high leg lift, takes his arm back to an online arm action up to a high ¾ arm slot, stays online with good direction to the plate while utilizing drop and drive actions, fastball topped out at 71 mph with occasional sinking action. Also worked out at catcher, deep crouched set position behind the plate, developing hands out in front, longer transfer with a short arm action at take back, young footwork carrying weight to second base, 2.25 second best pop time. Righthanded hitter, starts with an open stance and a high back elbow at the plate, bat wrap at load, creates a line drive swing plane through the hitting zone, sprays the ball to all parts of the field with jump when squared, best when on time to the baseball with proper actions with load. Outstanding student.
