Dylan Bates is a 2022 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from O Fallon, MO who attends Fort Zumwalt West. Medium build with some present strength. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base with a simple and repeatable load and trigger, gets some lower half shift into contact, stays short and direct to the ball and has an accurate barrel that should hit for a high average, some late back shoulder drop creates some lift in his swing that will become usable as he gets stronger. 7.96 runner, third base tools on defense, has good hands and fields the ball cleanly while showing good balance especially moving to his right, long and loose arm action with developing arm strength. Also pitched, full hands over head delivery with a deep arm action in back, arm can be late on times on his fastball. Worked in the 75-77 mph range with his fastball, showed better strike throwing feel for a big, slow curveball than his fastball. Excellent student.
