Devin McComas is a 2022 RHP/C/OF with a 5-9 167 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Clear Lake. Compact build with good present strength for his height. Works from the stretch with a high 3/4's arm slot, athletic delivery, short and quick arm action, plenty of energy at release. Fastball topped out at 84 mph early, mostly in the low 80's, straight with occasional arm side running life. Showed two types of breaking balls, bigger breaking curveball that he lands for strikes well, shorter soft slider with some two-plane sweeping depth, flashed a change up. Improving the consistency of his release and mechanics will be key to his pitching development. 6.99 runner, is aggressive to the ball in the outfield, big stride at release can leave him off balance at release, showed his arm strength well, versatile athlete on defense who can play multiple positions. Right handed hitter, big high leg lift trigger, deep hand load in back, shifts his weight well while using his lower half, upper cut swing plane could be too lofted for his tools and approach. Excellent student.
