Mason Traylor is a 2019 LHP/1B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Riverside, CA who attends Ramona. Medium frame with an athletic build. Primary left handed pitcher with a full over high delivery and medium leg lift. Stays balanced on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Compact arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball generated some downward plane with occasional run in the low 70's, topped at 72 miles per hour. Breaking ball showed 2/8 shape with solid spin and some sweep to glove side. Displayed good feel for breaking ball with the ability to land for strikes in both positive and negative counts. Also worked out defensively from the outfield and first base. From the outfield showed deliberate footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels the baseball out front and worked through transfer with loose exchanges. Released from a three-quarters slot creating some on line carry at 69 miles per hour. From first base, centered the baseball well and created good momentum to target. Funnels out front and working through exchange efficiently. Throws generated some accurate carry to the bag at 68 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a balanced, even stance and simple front side trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Simple hand path to baseball with a lifted barrel plane through extension. Stays behind the baseball well and contact while employing a mid field approach.
