Makai Wong is a 2023 C/1B with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Bellaire, TX who attends Episcopal. Large, square shouldered frame with some present strength to frame and additional room to grow moving forward. Ran a 7.90 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, gets tall coming out of crouch, young footwork and will continue to refine, long arm action through the back, occasionally under throws, arm strength will keep developing. Graded out best at first base in this look, fields the ball out front, waits back on the ball, shows balance on the pivot and works to a higher release point on throws with accuracy. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and lower back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger with limited weight shift moving into contact. Keeps hands inside the ball with a full swing path through the zone. Looks to lift and shows jump off the barrel when squared, best when working on a linear plane while working to all parts of the field.
