2004 Underclass National Showcase
Chris Hoffman -- Hoffman is a lean slender, projectable 6-3 junior right handed pitcher. He throws a low 70’s cutter as his fastball and compliments that with a 64 mph curveball and 66 mph split finger. The combination of the cutter and the split finger, which really had good tumbling action to it, creates an effective duo against young hitters. He’s obviously going to have to add plenty more velocity to move his game to the next level but Hoffman does a nice job of making the ball move right now. His body is his #1 and most interesting attribute right now. He's only some velocity away from being a high level college pitcher. He is a very good student.
