Matthew Maloney is a 2019 C/1B, 3B with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA who attends Ocean View. Medium frame with broad shoulders and strength in build. Ran a 7.43 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Sets up in a low and even stance. Gains short ground from stance with a quick transfer through the back. Stays around the bag with throws at 76 miles per hour and popping a 2.02 during workouts. Righthanded hitter with a wide and slightly open stance. High hand set and high back elbow. Shorter path with a linear shift to contact. Works well to the pull side and showing feel for the barrel with occasional line drive contact to all fields. Creates some jump off the barrel and strength projects for more power in bat in the future. Very good student as well.
