Jonathan Reading is a 2009 MIF/OF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Torrey Pines HS. He has a lean athletic body type and is a good baseball player, along with being a good athlete. Frankly, Reading probably should have been listed in the top prospects list. He not only has ability and athleticism, but he plays with passion and has good instincts and feel for the game. Reading is the type of player that could really come on strong in the next year or so. He has an aggressive hitting approach and a quick bat that makes consistently hard barrel contact. He has good timing and can hit to all fields. Defensively Reading is very versatile. He showed off a solid outfield arm with a quick release and wheels that could make him successful in centerfield. Reading looked best at 2nd base, where he also showed a really quick release and a solid arm. His feet work well too. Reading is an excellent student and a really talented player. He is a strong D1 prospect and time will tell if he develops into a pro prospect. He was one of the more enjoyable players to watch in the event.
