2007 California Underclass Showcase
Kyle Wong is a 2008 MIF with a 5'9'', 155 lb. frame from South Pasadena CA, who attends St. Francis HS. He has a lean, wiry build on a medium frame, with some room to naturally fill out a bit. Wong is a nice all around player and as he gets stronger, he will start to stand out more among his peers. Offensively he has a quiet approach and a contact hitter. Wong has nice hands and a good swing path, with some feel for hitting. He can work the ball around the yard a bit and should hit for average in college. When on the bases Wong is also a good player. He runs the bases well and as he gets stronger, he will gain speed. Defensively he showed a strong and quick arm that will also get stronger as he physically develops. Wong's hands are solid and he played well in the middle of the diamond. All that he does is just a notch below the top players in his age group, but he is still behind many '08 prospects in terms of size and strength. Given time, Wong will be a nice college player. He is also a solid student.
