Luis Chapa is a 2022 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Pasadena, TX who attends Pasadena Memorial. Medium athletic build. 7.40 runner in the sixty. Has good footwork in the middle infield and moves well laterally, good gather and transfer at the ball, makes accurate throws with developing arm strength, good fundamental middle infielder. Right handed hitter, hits from an upright open stance with a leg lift trigger and some hand coil to get the bat started, lifting swing plane with some extension to his swing, bat speed will continue to improve as he gets stronger. Also pitched, simple leg lift delivery with a loose 3/4's arm action, repeats his delivery well and is a strike thrower. Fastball topped out at 78 with arm side run and the ability to throw to both sides of the plate, also cut his fastball glove side at times. Showed feel for changing the shape of his breaking ball and adding and subtracting depth. Maturity on the mound is a plus. Good student.
