Jay Allred is a 2022 LHP/OF with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Summerfield, NC who attends Northern Guilford. Tall and lean athletic build with lots of room to fill out and get stronger. High leg lift delivery with a well timed hand break, over the top arm slot that creates big downhill angle, lots of extension out front, has energy at release. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, plenty more velocity in there as he physically matures, nice arm side running life down in the zone. Still developing feel for a downer curveball but flashes good spin on the pitch. Has deception and created some uncomfortable swings when he was in the zone. Left handed hitter, hits from an open stance with a good lower half shift into contact, nice swing with good present bat speed, solid pull contact, has hitting tools to develop. 7.52 runner, good athletic action with sound fundamentals in the outfield, gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws. Potential two-way prospect. Good student.
