Chase Gruno is a 2020 RHP/3B with a 6-1 215 lb. frame from Birch Run, MI who attends Birch Run. Big and strong build, especially in his lower half. Short and compact arm action on the mound from a high leg lift delivery, tight high 3/4's slot coming through, uses his strong lower half well in his drive to the plate, gets over his front side well, has energy at release, repeats his mechanics well. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, works downhill well and stays at the bottom of the zone with good heaviness, ground ball inducing fastball. Curveball flashed some 11/5 bite and depth, occasional hump in it when he doesn't get out front. Like the way he pounded the zone and maintained his stuff. Right handed hitter, late cocked hand load with a short stride into contact, has the strength to drive the ball when he's on time and extended through the ball. 7.12 runner, moves well for his size. Good student.
