Kaiya Saito is a 2021 C/RHP/UT with a 5-8 148 lb. frame from Bellevue, WA who attends Newport HS. Compact frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary catcher with a low stance while receiving the baseball. Receives the baseball with two hands and gains occasional ground towards the bag. Displayed smooth, fundamentally sound footwork. Released from a three-quarters slot generating on line carry to the bag at 72 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.13. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance. Works into contact with some linear lower half actions. Flashed good hand quickness through the zone while employing a line drive barrel plane. Ball jumped off the barrel well when squared producing sharp contact to the middle of the field between the gaps. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step delivery. Released from a high three-quarters arm slot producing good downhill plane through the zone in the low to mid 70's, topped at 76 miles per hour. Curveball flashed tight spin with good downward depth in the low 60's. Primarily looked to challenge hitters with fastball offering to the bottom quadrants of the zone.
