Austin Weiss is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Ponte Vedra Beach FL, who attends The Bolles School. He has a tall frame with good strength and thickness throughout. Weiss has a short, compact arm action with a tight release similar to a catcher's. He showed very good command of his fastball and had occasional arm side run. He used his fastball to work ahead in counts and get hitters to swing the bat. Weiss's curveball was 65 mph and it had nice spin and some tightness and was an effective pitch for him, especially when he was ahead in the count. Weiss also mixed in a few mid 70's change ups and could further develop this pitch. Weiss is an excellent student and has his sights set on some top level academic institutions.
