John Ruettiger is a 2008 OF/P with a 6'2'', 180 lb. frame from Joliet, IL who attends Joliet Catholic Academy. He is a quick twitch athlete with a live, lean body. Ruettiger ran the 60 in 6.48 and he has a speed player's approach to the game. At the plate, he is a left handed hitter who hits out of a wide base with a short, line drive swing that emphasizes contact. Ruettiger will inside out the ball frequently and slash it to the opposite field. He has the hand quickness and leverage to project gap to gap extra base power in the future. In the outfield, Ruettiger has fluid actions and is aggressive coming to the ball. With his speed he should have no problem playing centerfield at the highest levels. Ruettiger's tools and approach look like a young Steve Finley. He is an outstanding student who has a verbal commitment to Arizona State.
