Scotty Grier is a 2020 RHP/3B with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Dublin, CA who attends Dublin. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable with plenty of room to fill throughout moving forward throughout. Ran a 7.63 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins delivery with a high leg lift above belt, stays tall through delivery with a long arm action through the backside working to an over-the-top release point. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, pitched heavily off fastball with comfort and showed some cut action when working to glove side and flashed occasional sink down in the zone. Curveball offers 12-6 shape with big depth, tends to slow at release, can miss bats with the pitch. Approaches the ball well in the infield, extra step through release, similar long arm action, developing glove work at the backhand, fields out front and works with a lower slot on throws across. Righthanded hitter, begins with a tall stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Handsy swing, long swing path through the zone and keeps hands inside the ball, gets the . barrel through and creates contact to pull side. Can unlock additional strength with added extension, easy swing with carry off the barrel when squared and with lift. Very good student.
