James Austin Waterhouse is a 2019 RHP/2B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Keota, IA who attends Keota. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with compact side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and worked in line to the plate with lower half. Works over front side well and displayed a repeatable arm stroke. Fastball came out of hand clean generating some natural cut to glove side in the low 70's, topped at 73 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with some spin and good depth in the low 60's. Displayed good feel for the edges of the plate and consistently worked to each quadrants of the zone. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing clean footwork while soft hands. Smooth paced, deliberate actions through exchange and got the baseball out quickly. Created accurate carry across the infield topping at 79 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing aggressive footwork while closing to the ball. Funnels the baseball well and worked through transition efficiently. Created uphill carry out of hand topping at 83 miles per hour to the bag. Right handed hitter with a even, balanced stance and simple front side trigger. Worked to the contact with rotational actions. Flashed solid hand quickness to contact while utilizing a line drive barrel plane. Showed good feel for the zone and consistently produced harder contact to the middle of the field. Very good student as well.
