Andrew Sokol is a 2022 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Belle Vernon, PA who attends Belle Vernon Area. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean and projectable build, has room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, utilizes a short stride down the mound with lower half, compact arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Fills the zone well and topped out at 77 mph with fastball, worked to both sides of the plate, pitched to contact while generating some angle from release. Lands his breaking ball for strikes, up to 68 mph, short depth to it through the zone. Quick release on throws from the outfield, lower slot on throws, short steps moving towards the ball, some bend at waist receiving and fields it out front. Young actions off the bag at first base, quickness to footwork on the charge, extra step moving through the ball into release, repeats actions. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open and bent knee stance with a high hand set and lower back elbow in the box. Moving parts through load, keeps hands inside swing and utilizes a contact oriented approach. Occasionally mistimed, swings with intent and able to works to all parts of the field with contact, liner to downward path through the zone. Very good student.
